What Happens during Facelift Surgery?
Depending on the complexity of the procedure, your surgery could take up to eight hours. Our surgeons are very detailed in their approach and will take all the time necessary to ensure outstanding plastic surgery results:
We set aside entire days each week for pre-operative consultations and post-operative follow-ups to help with the recovery from a facial surgery.
What Happens during Recovery?
Your recovery timeline will depend largely on the extent of your treatment. For example, a mini facelift will involve a shorter recovery time than a comprehensive facelift that includes a neck lift and other techniques. However, in general, patients can expect:
The First Week
Plan to rest during this time. The day after your surgery, you will return to our Columbus, GA, office for an exam to ensure there are no complications. Swelling will probably peak around day three or four, and we may prescribe pain medication to control discomfort.
The Second Week
You may still have some bruising and swelling, but you will be able to resume activities such as light housework. By the end of the second week, patients usually feel ready to go back to work.
Within the First Month
You will have your sutures removed and you can expect to start seeing your results as swelling goes down significantly. In most cases, patients can resume exercise within the first month after their facelift.
After 30 Days
Although it may take up to a year for swelling to completely subside, the rejuvenating effects of your facelift will become increasingly apparent and you can resume all normal activities.
